The Harwanne Compagnie de participations industrielles et financières SA , based in Geneva , is a Swiss investment company . After the sale of its most important stake, it no longer holds any significant operational business areas. At its peak around the turn of the millennium, Harwanne had a consolidated workforce of almost 5,300 employees and a consolidated turnover of 776 million Swiss francs. Until the start of the divestment phase at the end of 2005, the centerpiece of the Harwanne holdings was the French Nord Est SA, in which Harwanne held a majority stake of up to almost 90 percent of the votes. Under this, various subsidiaries were organized into the three business areas of packaging for luxury goods and health products, minerals and mines, and electrical components. In the course of streamlining its group structure, Nord Est sold its subsidiary DAM Denain-Anzin Minéraux in October 2005 and its subsidiary Apem in December 2006. Harwanne, for its part, sold its majority stake in Nord Est in December 2006.
