The Toto Costruzioni Generali SpA is an Italian construction company based in Chieti . The company was founded as a sole proprietorship in the early 1960s and initially carried out smaller public contracts received through general contractors . Starting in 1968, Toto received these contracts, won through public tenders , directly from the public sector . In 1973 the company was converted into a general partnership and in 1979 into a stock corporation. Toto experienced a further surge in growth with the 1981 takeover of Palmieri SpA in Rome, which was completely dissolved in Toto in 1990. As a result, Toto realized several important infrastructure projects throughout Italy.
