The official inauguration of the local recreation area took place on August 17th, 2002. In addition to Lake Concordia, which is used for tourism, the Harzer Seeland also includes Lake Königsau , which is not accessible for nature conservation reasons. The lake has biotope structures. The geological evidence in the form of erosion forms and outcrops are also worth preserving .

deals

The Seeland has a pier for 80 boats, a holiday home area and a campsite. There is also an equestrian center with riding arenas and stables for 80 horses. Furthermore, from May 2005 until the accident in July 2009, a 250-person passenger ship , the “MS Seelandperle”, operated on Lake Concordia. Near Neu Königsaue is the Harzer Seeland adventure land , which covers 80,000 m² and is the largest playground in Saxony-Anhalt. To the north of Frose is the so-called Bürgerpark , a wooded dump area with an area of 250 ha and around 15 km of developed hiking trails.

landslide

On the south bank of the lake was the Nachterstedt lookout point, where a 75-tonne electric locomotive and a 25-m³ waste wagon from the former mine railway could be viewed on a 30-meter-long track system. They were torn into Lake Concordia when a 350 by 150 meter wide strip of land slid down on July 18, 2009, as were two residential buildings. Three people were killed in the process.
