The Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain is the largest stadium of the Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago . The stadium, built in 1980, has a capacity of 27,000 seats.
history
The stadium was originally called the National Stadium . In 2001 the stadium was renovated for the U-17 World Cup and named after the athlete Hasely Crawford . Crawford won a gold medal in the 100-meter run at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal , making it the first Trinidad and Tobago athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. In 2010, Hasely Crawford Stadium was one of five venues for the Women's U-17 World Cup .
Hasely Crawford Stadium is the home ground of Defense Force FC , Police FC and San Juan Jabloteh football clubs . In addition, the national soccer team of Trinidad and Tobago plays its home games at Hasely Crawford Stadium.
