The Hatomune-Dō ( Japanese 鳩 胸 胴 , literally "pigeon breastplate") is a breastplate of the Japanese armor ( Japanese "Yoroi").
description
The Hatomune-Dō is made of steel . The prototype for this type of armor was the breastplate worn by Europeans . The Japanese copied them, but breastplates made in Europe were also imported . The Hatomune-Dō became popular during the advent of the first firearms in Japan. Due to the threat posed by firearms , some specimens were also made bulletproof, but these tanks were heavy. The arm and leg armor remained in the Japanese style. The helmets were also partly adapted and resembled the European cabasset .
