The main Verlag AG (formerly Paul Haupt ) is a Swiss publishing company with its own bookstore based in Bern .

General

Around 100 new titles appear every year, around 800 books are available. The company is run by a five-person management and employs around 30 people. The board of directors consists of three people, the president is Manuel Ruchti.

history

The publishing house goes back to the academic bookstore for medicine and natural science founded by Max Drechsel in 1906 , which was expanded by a publishing house in 1908. After the entrepreneur's death in 1918, the bookstore and publishing house were taken over by employee Paul Haupt . In 1946 the Gustav Grunau printing company in Bern was incorporated. In 1963 the company was converted into a family corporation. In 1967 the Bartlomé bookstore in Interlaken was taken over. Paul's son Max Haupt expanded the publishing house. Since 2003 the publishing house belongs to the grandson Matthias Haupt.

In 2017 the publisher was voted Swiss Publisher of the Year .

Focus

The Paul Haupt publishing house focused on fiction, scientific publications, non-fiction and Helvetica. It was the first to publish the works of Albert Schweitzer . Today, the company presents itself as a "modern, innovative 'special interest> -Anbieter" and calls the focus design and design and nature books.
