Charles Linsmayer (born May 6, 1945 in Kilchberg near Zurich ) is a Swiss Germanist , publicist , literary critic and writer . He lives in Zurich .

Life

Charles Linsmayer studied literature in Zurich and Berlin and received his doctorate in Zurich with a dissertation on Hans Henny Jahnn .

First he worked as a high school teacher, then he became a publishing editor and journalist. He specialized in the cultural and literary history of Switzerland and published the Spring of the Present edition from 1980 to 1983 at Ex Libris- Verlag, Zurich . He also oversaw new editions by Lore Berger , Alfred Fankhauser , Heinrich Federer , Friedrich Glauser , Cécile Ines Loos and other authors. Since 1987 he has been making works by Walter Ackermann , Charles-Albert Cingria , Edmond Fleg , Otto Frei , Guido Looser , Hugo Marti , Werner Renfer , Alice Rivaz , Annemarie Schwarzenbach , Regina Ullmann , Gertrud Wilker and other Swiss authors under the label Reprinted by Huber newly accessible. In addition, as editor and biographer, he mediates the works of Swiss francophone authors such as S. Corinna Bille , Maurice Chappaz and Jeanne Hersch . His work as editor was honored by the Solothurn Literature Days in 1999 with an exhibition entitled Giving Books a Second Chance , which was then shown in Bern, Zurich and Lucerne.

In the summer of 2003, he showed the exhibition 4x1 = 1 **** on literary translations in Switzerland in Geneva, Solothurn and Zurich . In December 2007, the City of Zurich's Literature Commission awarded him six months of work.

In 2015, he curated the exhibition 60 Years, Everything in All, at the Strauhof Literature Museum in Zurich . Zurich in the mirror of Kurt Guggenheim's chronicle of novels and other literary works of the 20th century .
