The SS-Hauptsturmführer (short: Hstuf ; address: Hauptsturmführer ) was an officer rank of the Schutzstaffel (SS) in the rank group of the captains in the German Reich .

This rank was introduced as SS-Sturmhauptführer in 1931 and renamed SS-Hauptsturmführer in 1935.

Below are the badges of rank or rank badges that were used as shoulder pieces and collar tabs and also as sleeve badges . The collar tabs with SS runes and the badge of rank were worn on the field gray uniform jacket of the Waffen SS or the gray field blouse.

Ranking and insignia

This SS rank was equal to the SA-Hauptsturmführer and the captain ; these ranks are comparable to today's OF-2 ( NATO rank code ). The backing of the shoulder pieces was held in the weapon color specified for officers of the Waffen-SS .
