Mayor-Smidt-Strasse 162/166

The house at Bürgermeister-Smidt-Strasse 162/166 , formerly the house of the General Local Health Insurance Fund Bremerhaven , in Bremerhaven - Mitte , Bürgermeister-Smidt-Strasse 162/166, was built in 1928 according to plans by Heinrich Jäger.

The building has been a listed building in Bremen since 1996 .

history

The five-storey, brick-built residential and commercial building with the horizontal structure of the basement, middle section and attic was built in 1928 in the period between the wars in the modern style for the Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse in Bremerhaven. The house is characterized by the dark, structured clinker brick facade with its ornamental and sculptural stone architecture.

The AOK Bremerhaven and Wesermünde moved in 1966 to a new building in Columbusstrasse 1 on Elbingerplatz in Geestemünde .

Today (2018) the house houses the Institute for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Bremerhaven as well as practices, offices and apartments.
