Hilbeck House in Werl-Hilbeck

Haus Hilbeck is a former moated castle and today's manor house in Hilbeck , a district of the city of Werl , district of Soest in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The house probably owes its name to Hilbeck. Not everyone who later called himself von Hilbeck or de Hilbecke or similar belongs to the knightly family. A Gobelinus de Hilbecke is documented for 1260. In the coat of arms, von Hilbeck had a tournament collar in an undivided coat of arms. At times the family was also referred to as von der Heyde von Hilbeck, in a document from 1357 a Heinrich v. d. Heyde gnt v. Hilbeck and his wife Frederunis v. Called Vrisendorf. After 1461 this family lived in the Kamen area. The von Hilbeck who appeared in the village in the 16th century bear the name after the name of the place.

Haus Hilbeck was first mentioned in a document in 1396. The families von Hilbeck, von Pentling, von Hugenpoth, von Münster , von Diepenbrock and von Wartensleben are mentioned as owners . In 1726 it was bought by the von Plettenberg family , who are still the owners of the Hilbeck family today.

The moats and the original buildings are no longer preserved today; today's manor house was built after 1798.
