The house at Klosterstrasse 20 is a town house in the Belgian city of Eupen . The building, built in the first half of the 19th century in the classicism style , has been protected as a cultural monument since February 4th, 1987 .
description
The house has a harmonious bluestone facade in the typical stone of the German-speaking community , which was added to the original facade in the 19th century. Inside the house there is an 18th century staircase. Up until 1963 there was a gate on the right side of the house, which led into the inner courtyard lined with Schererwinkel from the 18th century. In the first half of the 20th century the farm buildings were used as a glazing and silver mirror production facility. Until 1938 there was a spacious park behind the area.
The front building has served as a pharmacy since 1961.
The two-story building consists of three axes, heavy with four fluted and to the eaves continuous pilasters are separated. In the left axis is the entrance door, which stands out with its Rococo decor. Five large rectangular windows with heavy cuboid walls provide the necessary light supply. There are devices for shutters on these , which can be seen in older photos but are not currently attached. The uniformly gray facade is loosened up by slightly protruding frames, protruding sills and individual crates. The house is covered with a gable roof in which a hipped arched window gable is installed.
