House Mückenburg

The Mückenburg house is a listed secular building in Altena , a town in the Märkisches Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The assembly consists of medieval and modern parts. It was reshaped in 1919 under the impression of the new creation of Altena Castle . The core is interpreted as a medieval outer bailey to the count's castle. An extension was probably made in the 17th century. The eaves-standing construction, like the extensions, probably dates from the 18th century. The baroque door with skylights and sidelights is remarkable ; The forged spiral lattice gates are also worth seeing.
