Haus Maria Rast (formerly Haus Broich ) is a former mansion of the von Mallinckrodt family in Kreuzweingarten , a district of Euskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia , which today serves as an educational facility for the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary . The manor house has been a listed building since 1993 .

history

Max von Mallinckrodt had the manor house, completed in 1899, built according to his own plans , which was supposed to be a counterpart to Wachendorf Castle , which was owned by his brother Paul von Mallinckrodt . The manor house was named Haus Broich after the hall name of the area . The nearby Broicherhof estate also belonged to the estate, above whose gate the coat of arms of the von Mallinckrodt family is attached.

On New Year's Eve 1944/45, the property was so badly damaged in a bomb attack that it was uninhabitable. In 1947 the heir Gerd von Mallinckrodt sold the ruined building to the secular institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, who established an educational facility on the site. The mansion was rebuilt and new buildings were added next to it.
