The House Max Winter is a social institution of the Viennese homeless, by the Samaritan Federation Workers Vienna is operated. It is located in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus , the 15th district of Vienna, at Pillergasse 20. The house has 120 individual apartments for women and men and one apartment for couples. The fully furnished rooms have a kitchen, toilet and shower. Most of the rooms are barrier-free , 28 residential units are wheelchair accessible. The individual apartments have a size of 22 to 35 square meters.

History of the house

The Max Winter house was officially opened on June 18, 2010 in the presence of the Vice Mayor Michael Ludwig . It is named after the journalist and politician Max Winter . At the same time, two houses down, at Pillergasse 24, a new Samariterbund social market was opened. The socially assisted residential units are allocated by the advice center for homeless people of the Vienna Social Fund .

In June 2015, a resident of the house was found dead in his room. According to the police, it is a homicidal crime.
