House Preysser (2013)

The Preysser house is a stately half-timbered house, designated 1696, in the old town of Wernigerode , Breite Straße 71. It is the only house in the city that is assigned to the Mannerist style . It was built in the late 17th century by the candle maker and soap maker Johann Preysser and changed hands frequently in its later history. The remarkable gate entrance on the left side of the half-timbered facade bears the name of the builder and his wife, a winged putto head , vegetable ornamentation and two bizarre carved men's heads with oriental headgear that look outward in the upper area of the gate pillars.

In 1995 the Preysser house was completely renovated by the owner and is now used as a residential and commercial building.
