House ("Castle") Rossdelle is a fortified house on the Rinderbach in the Vogelsangbach valley north of Heiligenhaus .

overview

It was a fief of the Reichsabbey of Werden . Whether this was a manor or even a castle, as noted in the files in 1588, has not yet been determined. The building is placed under protection as a monument. The Rhenish Office for Ground Monument Preservation estimates that it dates back no earlier than the 16th century.

history

It is mentioned in a document around 1400 as Rosendelle in Werdener Urbar . The Rosendelle house also had a farm with agriculture . In 1474, Probst Wilhelm von Reifferscheid was given the house and farm of Rosendelle as a retirement home where he lived until 1506.

In 1513 it was first leased to Angermund Herman von Else (Bergisch magistrate), then to Reinhard von Landsberg. Gerhard von Eller zu Oefte bought the farms in 1576, but in 1659 the Werden monastery bought it back. After the secularization , the estate was owned by the Count von Schulenberg. After it had been owned by the Rheinisch-Westfälische Kalksteinwerke in Wülfrath for several decades , the city of Heiligenhaus bought the property in 1951 and leased it to farmers. Since 1995 Stefan Zisman was the owner, who ran a riding stables there. The current owners Karin and Sven Zilles run a riding stables with a riding school there.
