House Settegast

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Settegast house is located at Lantzallee 24 in Düsseldorf - Lohausen . It was built in 1930 according to plans by the architect Fritz Becker in the New Objectivity style. The architect did not understand “New Objectivity” as cubist form experiments, but as an expedient organization of the floor plan of a house in connection with its garden ”. The building represents "one of the best and most progressive" works by Fritz Becker.

The building is a closed, two-story block. This appears to have a flat roof , but in reality it has a flat hipped roof . The hipped roof cannot be seen from the street or the garden. The floor plan of the house is almost square, flanked by a garage in the shape of a cube.
