Haus Vierbecke is a former aristocratic residence in Holzwickede .

location

The aristocratic seat was in today's district of Hengsen on the southern slope of the Ardey Mountains about halfway between Haus Opherdicke and Rura Castle (Haus Ruhr) . The name Vierbecke is derived from four small brooks that were used to feed the graves . Today this place is in the middle of the military training area . Nothing more can be seen of the buildings, only remnants of the graves are revealed to the expert.

history

Haus Vierbecke was probably founded in the middle of the 13th century, when the Hegeninghusen manor was divided.

The Vierbecke family was related to the Counts of the Mark . On October 3, 1378 , Agnes von der Vierbecke tried to use a ruse to gain access to the city of Dortmund for the Märkern in the Dortmund feud. The project failed, Agnes and her son as well as young count Conrad IV of Dortmund were executed on the same day in Dortmund.

As early as 1600 the Vierbecke house burned down to the ground. The castle was not rebuilt. Instead, a farm yard was built on Burgplatz, which continued the name Vierbecke. But in 1777 the estate was still titled "Adelich" on the topographic chart of the county of Marck. During the National Socialist era , Hof Vierbecke housed the Hengser glider pilot school. After the war, refugees were housed in an emergency shelter set up here.

The last farm buildings at this point probably disappeared with the expansion of the training area in the 1970s.
