The Hawkes Glacier is a glacier on the east side of Deception Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It lies between Macaroni Point in the north and Baily Head in the south and reaches heights of 528 m on Mount Chile and 548 m on Mount Pond .
Polish scientists named it in 1999 after the British geologist Donald Durston Hawkes (* 1934), who wrote his doctoral thesis on the geology of the South Shetland Islands from 1956 after field research for the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey .
