The Hawkesbury Glacier is a glacier on the south coast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It flows into the head end of Shallop Cove immediately north of the Núñez Peninsula .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2002. It is named after the British sealer Lord Hawkesbury , who was the first ship of its kind to operate in the waters around South Georgia in 1786 and, according to the HMS resolution of the British navigator James Cook, was the second ship to use the Had explored the coastline of South Georgia in detail.
