Haxo is a never opened station on the Paris Métro in the 19th arrondissement . It is located on an internal connection between the stations Place des Fêtes ( Line 7 bis ) and Porte des Lilas ( Line 3 bis ) under the Boulevard Sérurier and was built in 1921 with only one directional platform. In the course of the planned merging of lines 3bis and 7bis, the opening of the station is planned as an option.

Surname

It is named after the Rue Haxo , at the northern end of which the station is located. François Nicolas Benoît Haxo was a French general , fortress builder , specialist in siege warfare and inspector general of genius .

The Porte des Lilas and Pré-Saint-Gervais stations were to be linked in the 1920s. While the city administration of Paris, as the owner of the metro network, had the idea of allowing trains on line 3 to run on line 7, this did not apply to the then operating company Compagnie du Métropolitain de Paris (CMP), which only had operational difficulties at the same time saw too little income.

Location of the station

The tunnels and tracks were built anyway. A single-track line, called Voie des Fêtes, has since connected the Place des Fêtes station with the Porte des Lilas station. Coming from Rue du Pré-Saint-Gervais and branching south under Boulevard Sérurier, the single-track connecting tunnel misses the Pré-Saint-Gervais metro station by just a few meters, which is why there is a separate platform a few meters for the trains going in the direction of Porte des Lilas moored south of the Pré-Saint-Gervais station: Haxo.

For the opposite direction, a second track, called Voie navette , was built, which directly connects the Porte des Lilas station with Pré-Saint-Gervais without a stopover. However, since the plan of a continuous connection of lines 3 and 7 was soon abandoned, it was finally decided to set up only a shuttle service (French navette ) between Porte des Lilas and Pré-Saint-Gervais without using the Voie des Fêtes, which was not a large one Enjoyed popularity. The Haxo station on the Voie des Fêtes was therefore never put into operation, and even the access from street level to the station was never built. Nowadays it is approached as part of tunnel tours.

Future development

possible line course after the merging

A merger of lines 3 bis and 7 bis was planned in 2013 in the traffic route plan for the greater Paris area for the period after 2030. Template: future / in 5 yearsIn addition to the Voie navette and Voie des Fêtes routes, the Haxo station may also be included in order to implement a future route 19 from Château-Landon to Gambetta . First, however, the trains of the MF88 series would have to be decommissioned and replaced by those of the MF67 series , as part of the Voie navette near the Pré-Saint-Gervais station serves as a workshop for the very fault-prone MF88.

If implemented, the tunnel currently being used from line 7 to under the Rue des Bois between Place des Fêtes and Pré-Saint-Gervais would become an operational route. The platforms of Porte des Lilas - Cinema, which are currently not used for passenger operations, will become the station of the newly created connection, while the platforms of the 3 up to Porte des Lilas including the east-facing turning loop would no longer be required for regular traffic.
