Hazim Delic

Hazim Delić (born May 12, 1964 ) is a former Bosniak commander of the Čelebići prison camp and the Armija Republike Bosne i Hercegovine , as well as a convicted war criminal . On April 8, 2003, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the UN War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague for crimes against humanity and war crimes during the Bosnian War . He was found guilty of the murder and torture of Serbian civilians and of the mass rape of two Serbian women in the prison camp in 1992.

Trial before the International Criminal Court

According to the UN report, numerous Serbs were killed, tortured, sexually abused, beaten and generally treated cruelly and inhumanly in the Čelebići prison camp. Certain prisoners were shot or simply beaten to death. Hazim Delić was also responsible for the inhumane living conditions of the prisoners such as the deprivation of food, water, sleep and medical care. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison on November 16, 1998. On April 8, 2003, the appeal chamber reduced the sentence to 18 years.
