He Xiangjian
He Xiangjian (Chinese: 何享健; pinyin: Hé Xiǎngjiàn, born October 5, 1942 in Shunde , Guangdong Province ) is the co-founder of the Midea Group , one of the largest equipment manufacturers in China. With a fortune of 19.5 billion US dollars in 2018, he is the 50th richest person and one of the wealthiest Chinese.
Life
He Xiangjian started his business in 1968 with 23 villagers making glass bottles and plastic lids. At the age of 38 he switched to electric fans and named his company Midea. The company later became one of the largest electrical manufacturers in the country. He has not been the managing director of Midea since 2012, but still holds shares in the company. He is married with three children and lives in Foshan . His mother tongue is Cantonese and he speaks poor Mandarin .
