Heather Coltman

Heather Coltman (* in Zambia ) is an American pianist and music teacher.

Coltman came to the United States with her parents in 1966. She had her first piano lessons from her mother. She obtained a bachelor's degree from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, a master's degree from Mannes College of Music in New York, and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin . From 1977 she studied with Nadia Boulanger in Fontainebleau. Her teachers also included Lita Guerra , Claude Frank and David Bar-Illa . She taught u. a. at the University of South Carolina , Samford University , Birmingham-Southern College Conservatory, and the Community School of Music and Arts in Ithaca and is Dean of the Faculty of Music, Professor and Director of Keyboard Education at Florida Atlantic University .

As a pianist, Coltman a. a. Prizes at the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition , the Geza Anda International Piano Competition and the Outstanding Accompanist Award at the Corpus Christi Young Artists Competition and the Emanuel Feurmann International Cello Competition . She performed as a soloist, chamber musician and concert pianist a. a. in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and South Africa. Her recordings appeared u. a. with the labels Heng Hao Records and Lyra Productions . One focus of her repertoire is the music of contemporary composers.
