The Heavy Haul Power International GmbH (short: HHPI ) is a private railway company , headquartered in Erfurt . HHPI focuses on medium and long-term projects in the transport of lignite / hard coal, building materials and aggregates and other bulk goods.

history

In the summer of 2000, HHPI began operating in the rail freight sector. In the beginning you only drove with one diesel locomotive. Right from the start, the company only drove with diesel-powered locomotives, as primarily non-electrified routes and connecting railways are used. With the introduction of the Stadler Eurodual 2159 , E-traction is now being used for the main runs and additional power capacity is being created thanks to the higher tractive effort, both in diesel mode and under the overhead line .

Since it was founded, transports have taken place in Germany, Poland, France and the Benelux countries.

Vehicle fleet

HHPI initially drove a Class 59 from Electro-Motive Diesel named "Yeoman". Up to and including 2019, HHPI used Class66 and Class77 locomotives.

The company has been converting its fleet to Stadler Eurodual 2159 locomotives since spring 2020 and, once the conversion is complete, will be using a total of 5 locomotives of this type.

A Class66 will remain in the HHPI portfolio for a longer period of time.

In the freight wagon area, HHPI operates two self-unloading trains, which were designed for the transport of heavy bulk goods and which can be unloaded independently using conveyor belts in the lower part of the wagons.

In addition, HHPI uses "Faccns49" bulk goods wagons for transporting gravel and chippings and "Falns" for transporting coal.
