Hebdomadar
The Hebdomadar, Wochenner or Septimanar (from Greek ἑβδομάς hebdomás, Latin hebdomada or septimana "week") is the member of the convent determined by the superior in a monastery , who for the respective week in choir prayer the parts to be recited by an individual - such as the daily prayer , the first verse of a verse , the intercessions or the martyrology of the day - recites or starts. The Hebdomadar is also a lecturer in the Divine Office . On high celebrations , the superior himself often takes on the service of the Hebdomadar.
Before the evening prayer requests of Sunday and the Hebdomadar receives from superiors in a choir or chapter house the blessing .
