Hebei Spirit
The Hebei Spirit is a Hong Kong registered oil tanker .
On December 7, 2007, a non-powered floating crane, which was in tow, rammed the tanker at anchor. The site of the accident was 11 km off the coast of South Korea , near Taean . After the collision, 10,500 tons of 260,000 tons of loaded crude oil leaked . The oil spill reached the coast on the following day. The ship was confiscated on December 24, 2007 to enforce claims for damages.
