Hackle (heraldry)

The hackle is a common figure in heraldry and is rarely found in the coat of arms .

The heraldic figure is represented by a board with many tightly standing wires protruding from the tips. The figure is heraldically little penetrated. All heraldic tinctures are possible. The location in the coat of arms must be described .

The hackle is used to clean natural fibers such as flax and hemp fibers , jute , coconut fibers and others. The process is called panting or plucking.
