Hedinger Syndrome

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hedinger syndrome is a part of the carcinoid syndrome resulting endocardial fibrosis of the right heart which the tricuspid and pulmonary stenosis (both forms of heart valve damage may) lead. These changes are most likely caused by the tissue hormone serotonin , which is released into the bloodstream in non-physiologically high quantities by certain functionally active carcinoid tumors.
