Hedwig Hoffmann (actress)
Hedwig Hoffmann ( 1863 - April 16, 1925 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German theater actress .
Life
Hoffmann began her stage career in the role of "Lover" in 1895 in Halle and worked at the Freiburg City Theater from 1896 , where she remained until the end of her stage career. In 1890/92 she also appeared at the Strasbourg City Theater.
She was a skilful performer who knew how to bring her classical characters to life, and who endeavored to take into account the zeitgeist when presenting modern types without degenerating into unsightly realism. Her portrayals as " Iphighenie " and " Maria Stuart " as well as her "Magda" in Heimat (by Hermann Sudermann ) and "Claire" in hut owners were welcome achievements.
