Hedwig wish

Hedwig Stephanie Wunsch , b. Matrinsky (born August 12, 1934 ; † May 6, 2016 ) was an Austrian table tennis player . She is also the namesake of the Hedy-Wunsch-Park .

Career

Born Hedwig Stephanie Matrinsky, she won her first title at national Austrian championships in 1950 , in a mixed match with Herbert Wunsch , whom she married in October 1955. In 1957 she was Austrian champion in singles and doubles with Hotter, in 1961 in doubles with Ermelinde Wertl . Several times she took part in international championships.

Hedwig Wunsch lived for a long time in a residential complex in the neighborhood of today's Hedy-Wunsch-Park . There she was chairwoman of the tenants' council since 1995. Therefore, the park was named after her in 2018.
