Army field railway locomotive

An army field railway locomotive is a special war locomotive for use on army field railways , which was used in particular to transport military supplies to the front.

The types used were of diverse nature, especially in the era of the World Wars. Mainly steam , benzene- electric, and later diesel- powered systems were used.
