The German narrow gauge - steam locomotive of heeresfeldbahn Type HF 160 D was for military service in World War II developed a Tender locomotive wheel arrangement Dh2. The series was also referred to as the War Steam Locomotive 11 (KDL 11). After the war, many locomotives were put to civilian use, some of which were also switched to standard gauge.

At the ÖBB , the locomotives were run as the 699 series. The 699.1 series was created by converting it to tank locomotives . The 699 series locomotives were used on several ÖBB narrow-gauge lines. They were on the Bregenzerwaldbahn which Pinzgaubahn , the Waldviertler narrow-gauge railways , the Vellachtalbahn and Steyrtalbahn found. Six machines were eliminated by 1973, the 699.103 belonged to the operating stock of the Steyrtalbahn until it was discontinued in 1982.
