The Heerfordt syndrome ( fever uveoparotidea ) was prepared by the Danish ophthalmologist Christian Frederick Heerfordt (* 1871 , † 1953 named) and is a chronic inflammation of the parotid gland ( parotid ) and the lacrimal gland .

It can be associated with involvement of the iris and ciliary body of the eye ( iridocyclitis ), cranial nerves , the female breast or gonads and occurs particularly in connection with sarcoid .
