Heggholmen fyr is a beacon on the former island and today's peninsula of Heggholmen in the inner Oslofjord at the main entrance to the port of Oslo . Heggholmen has been associated with Gressholmen and Rambergøya over the past few decades .
The beacon is attached to a 1½-story wooden building as a corner lamp. On the roof of the building there is a tower with a bell and fog horn . The building was erected in 1826 and rebuilt in the Swiss style in 1876.
history
As early as 1827, the "Christiania Havnecommision" had signed a contract with Governor Svend Iversen, who lived across the street in Nesodden , so that he would build a substructure for the installation of a lamp fire. For this he received four Speciedaler as well as "the rule over Hægholmen and the associated glory for eternity".
The lighthouse was the first in Norway to be operated electrically from 1928 and automated in 1959. The last lighthouse keeper left the tower in 1972. Since then the fire has been operated automatically.
