Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo is a hit that was written in 1952 by Bronisław Kaper . The text comes from the scriptwriter Helen Deutsch . The song was used in the version sung by Leslie Caron and Mel Ferrer in 1953 as the score for the film Lili and became internationally known. Bronisław Kaper received the Oscar for Best Score for the Film in 1954 .

The song has been covered many times, including by Richard Chamberlain , Bill Evans , The Everly Brothers , Rickie Lee Jones , Tim Buckley , Manfred Mann , Alan Price , Gene Vincent , and Roger Williams . The song became a number one hit in Australia and Italy.

A German version was sung by Leila Negra in 1954 under the title Hei Lili (The most beautiful happiness on earth) .
