Heian Godan is the fifth and final kata of the Heian group . The Karateka leads them in the examination for the fourth Kyū before (second Violettgurt or blue belt). It consists of 25 movements and should be performed in about 50 seconds.

It combines several basic principles of karate : Mizu nagare-gamae represents an important principle of defense techniques, alternating forms of defense between Gedan, Jodan and Chudan , grabbing the opponent's arm and counterattacking, counter technique with a change of gaze, avoiding an attack by jumping, defending and Countering (Tai-sabaki) with Nagashi techniques, the classic Kamaekata Manji-gamae and so on. Due to the variety of techniques, this kata already teaches an extensive fighting style. At the same time, however, their execution places high demands on rhythm and timing. The kata combines alternating movements in quick succession with quickly executed techniques.
