Albrecht Pflüger (* 1941 in Leonberg ) is a German karate pioneer and one of the first karateka in Europe . He founded the Shotokan Circle in the German Karate Association (DKV), is a member of the Budo Study Circle (BSK) and has the 9th Dan Shōtōkan Karate, 2nd Dan Jiu Jitsu , 1st Dan Aikidō and 1st Kyū Jūdō .

Life

  • In 1957, Pflüger began training Jiu Jitsu under Ago Glucker in Stuttgart . He switched to Jūdō, which he practiced in several clubs.
  • In 1962 he passed his examination for the 1st Kyū Jūdō.
  • In August 1963 he attended Jürgen Seydel's 14-day karate seminar in Bad Godesberg .
  • In 1964 Pflüger became President of the German Karate Association (DKB). In April of the same year, the 23-year-old brown belt (in judo and karate) founded a martial arts department at the Leonberg Gymnastics Association.
  • In 1965 he graduated through an examination with the JKA teachers Kase , Kanazawa , Enoeda and Shirai for the 1st Dan Shōtōkan karate.
  • In 1966 he separated from the DKB, joined the German Judo Association and wrote his first textbook Karate, Volume 1 .
  • In 1967 Karate, Volume 2 was published .
  • 1970 Examination for 1st Dan Aikido.
  • 1971 Exam for 1st Dan Jiu Jitsu.
  • In 1975 he published his book Karate do .
  • Between 1976 and 1984 Pflüger was chairman of the Karate Union Baden-Württemberg , DKU vice-president and federal instructor and examination supervisor of the DKU.
  • In 1984 he withdrew from all positions in order to devote himself more to his home dōjō, the karate TSG Leonberg.
  • In early November 2001 he was awarded the 7th Dan in Shōtōkan karate.
  • In 2011, at the age of 70, Pflüger received his 8th Dan in the style of Koshinkan Karate. The Koshinkan is particularly widespread in Baden-Württemberg . The Koshinkan comes from the Shōtōkan , but also has an area with self-defense.
  • July 2015 Awarding of the platinum honorary plaque , the highest award of the German Karate Association, for his work in the association
  • December 17th, 2016 Appointment as 9th Dan Karate for his teaching activities for karate in Germany.

Significance for karate

Albrecht Pflüger has shaped the training of karatekas like no other before him through his personality, but above all through his textbooks. His kata drawings served generations of karatekas as a learning aid.
