Heidelberg extension

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heidelberg extension refers to a medical device for administering infusions . It is an extension hose made of plastic . Heidelberg extensions must be provided with the CE mark .

They are available in various lengths and colors in specialist shops; colored tubing systems are used for light-sensitive liquids and emulsions . Manufacturers include Fresenius Kabi and B. Braun .

Heidelberg extensions are used when a standard infusion line (1 to 1.5 m in length) is not sufficient; for example, if the patient has to be mobilized for pressure ulcer prophylaxis or has to be positioned to one side.
