MTV3 is a private Finnish television station operated by Bonnier and Proventus . MTV stands for Mainos-Televisio (advertising TV). The market share in 2010 was 21.6%. The MTV3 logo is the eye of an owl , which replaced the older owl logo in 2003.

MTV3 is one of four Finnish-speaking channels (alongside the two YLE channels and Nelonen ) that cover Finland nationwide.

history

On August 13, 1957, MTV3 was founded as MTV under the company Oy Mainos-TV-Reklam Ab and is thus the third oldest private television broadcaster in Europe. Initially, MTV's programming consisted only of airtime on a shared channel, until Kolmoskanava (TV3) was created in cooperation with YLE and Nokia in 1986 . In 1993 MTV took over the TV3 shares from YLE and Nokia. Alma Media Oy sold MTV and its subsidiary broadcasters MTV3 + , SubTV , Urheilukanava and Radio Nova in 2005 to the Swedish group Bonnier and Proventus .

In 2006 several digital TV channels were launched: MTV3 Max, MTV3 Leffa, MTV3 Fakta and Subtv Juniori.

program

In addition to Finnish, international series and shows are broadcast, for example:

MTV3 has a youth branch called Sub , a sports channel called Urheilukanava and other subsidiary channels: MTV3 + and Radio Nova .

The digital satellite channel TV Finland is operated jointly with YLE .

From 2003 to 2006 the program Fun Night was broadcast in parallel on MTV3 and Super RTL .
