The Super RTL Fun Night was a television program by the Finnish game developer RedLynx , which was produced from 2003 to 2009 and broadcast on Super RTL and MTV3 . The interactive game show ran parallel to the Fun Night program shown in Finland . In the show, viewers were able to interact with the show via SMS . In this way, games could be played or individual SMS greetings could be read out using speech synthesis.

Rubrics

There were three sections in the program:

  • SMS greetings: In this section, the viewers were able to send a text via SMS, which was then read out by a computer-animated character (e.g. a rabbit, Santa Claus, talk show host) using speech synthesis . This rubric was broadcast from 3:00 a.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • Games: In this section it was possible for viewers to send coordinates via SMS, which triggered an action in the game (e.g. shooting down asteroids or fighting battles with a catapult). This section was moderated from time to time and broadcast from 4:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Flirt @ Night: At the beginning of the Fun Night, this section was sometimes broadcast instead of the Games section. It was possible to establish partnerships with other people. Most of the time the cartoon series Powerpuff Girls was shown in a separate window .

Moderation

In the German version of the Fun Night, the Games section was moderated by so-called cavemasters at times . The real names of the moderators are not known, as they only appeared under nicknames . In the Finnish version, the SMS greetings section was partially moderated.

Moderators in the German version (selection):

  • dean
  • Euronaut
  • Franzi
  • Monaco
  • Penny Lane
  • Princess
  • Rick
  • Rosey

Trivia

  • The appearance of the computer-animated characters from the SMS greetings category is based on the Canadian residents from the South Park series .
  • Computer crashes and blue screens could be seen quite often .

Charisma

The program was broadcast on weekdays from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., occasionally the broadcast began earlier or later, but was still broadcast until 6:00 a.m. Since April 2009 the program has only been broadcast irregularly; In October 2009 the broadcast was stopped because the ratings were too low. In Finland, the broadcast ended in 2006.
