Heidi Ewing is an American producer and film and television director of documentaries .

In 1997 Heidi Ewing met Rachel Grady on a documentary project on Scientology . The two women decided to run a film production together in New York City . They founded Loki Films , named after a friend's daughter (and not after the Norse god Loki ). You decide together on the materials for your documentation. Together, the partners produced numerous documentaries for television, but also documentaries for the cinema.

At the 2007 Oscars , Heidi Ewing and her business partner Grady were nominated for an Oscar for best documentary for their work on the documentary Jesus Camp . But they had to admit defeat to the film An Inconvenient Truth . In 2007, she and Rachel Grady were also nominated for an Emmy Award for the PBS documentary The Boys of Baraka in the Outstanding International Programming - Long Form category. Gady and Ewing received a Peabody Award in 2010 for the documentary broadcast on HBO 's 12th & Delaware . In 2015 there was another Emmy nomination for the television documentary Women Who Make America in the Outstanding Historical Programming category . With I Carry You With Me , Ewing presented her first feature film at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020 .
