Heike Franke (born January 7, 1966 in Berlin ) is a German writer . She wrote her debut novel Choose Life in 2013 and published it as a self-publisher. In December 2015, Eine Liebe in der Bourgogne was her first novel published by a major German publisher. Since then, other works have followed, partly in the genre of political thrillers, partly family stories with love stories.

life and work

Childhood & adolescence

Franke grew up in Berlin. There she attended the Kant-Gymnasium , where she passed her Abitur in 1984.

Professional background

Franke studied political science at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin from 1985 to 1989 and graduated with a diploma. She then worked in England for a while before returning to Berlin. She lives and works there today as an author.

After several rejections, Franke made her debut at Aufbau Verlag in Berlin in December 2015 with Eine Liebe in der Bourgogne . The novel made it onto the longlist of the DeLia Literature Prize.

Franke cannot be tied to one genre. Her subjects are often inspired by travel, and she wanders between the love story, family novel and political thriller genres. However, her heroines are always strong women.
