The Heilig-Geist-Kirche is a church building of the Protestant parish in Menden (Sauerland) . It is located at the intersection of Bodelschwinghstrasse / Bahnhofstrasse / Walramstrasse / Westwall on the southwestern edge of the old town.
History and architecture
The building was built between 1861 and 1864 according to the plans of the architect Christian Heyden and inaugurated in 1864. It has been a listed building since March 3, 1983. It is a neo-Gothic hall church with a west tower and clover leaf choir. Among other things, the organ front has been preserved from the contemporary furnishings.
The Heilig-Geist-Kirche replaced its simple predecessor from 1834, which was on the corner of Bahnhofstrasse and Südwall opposite the city mill.
The inscription on the memorial plaque attached to the church building reads:

The slider chest instrument has 30 registers on two manuals and a pedal . In addition, the organ has a further manual (II. Bells
After the old bronze bells were lost in World War I , four chilled iron bells were cast at the Ulrich brothers' foundry in 1918. The bells are tuned to the notes es ', f', g 'and b' and are quite sonorous despite the inferior material. For the Sunday service, bells II and III first ring, then the full bell.
