The Holy Cross Cathedral is the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Honiara of the Roman Catholic Church in Honiara , the capital of the Solomon Islands .

It is located in the center of Honiara at the beginning of Mendana Avenue, the capital's main thoroughfare and business. Opposite is the Rathaus ( City Council ). The previous building, erected in 1957, had become too small, so that a new building was necessary. The first planning began under Bishop Daniel Stuyvenberg in 1975, and the construction was entrusted to the architect Noel McKernan from Melbourne. The foundation stone was laid on September 14, 1976. On September 17, 1978 the cathedral was consecrated.

The building resembles, like the previous building, a tent from the outside. The altar, tabernacle , baptismal font, the statues of Mary and Joseph and the crucifix were made by the woodcarver Frank Haikiu from Honiara.
