The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Honiara ( Latin Archidioecesis Honiarana , English Archdiocese of Honiara ) is on the Solomon Islands situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Honiara on the island of Guadalcanal . It includes the provinces of Central , Guadalcanal , Makira and Ulawa , Rennell and Bellona , Temotu and the capital district of Honiara.

Pope Leo XIII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of British Solomons on July 27, 1897 from cession of territory by the Vicariate Apostolic Neupommern . On January 21, 1904, it took the name of the Apostolic Prefecture of Southern Solomon Islands . With the Apostolic Constitution Maxima Semper she was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate on June 1, 1912 .

On November 15, 1966, it was raised to the bishopric with the bull Laeta incrementa and took its current name. With the bull Laetentur insulae multae on November 15, 1978 it was raised to the rank of metropolitan archbishopric.

It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
