Holy grave (Oberglogau)
The Holy Sepulcher in Upper Silesia (Głogówek) is a chapel from the 17th century. It is a replica of the Holy Tomb in Jerusalem. It is located on the site of the Oberglogau Castle close to its walls.
In a separate room there is a stone cube that represents the tomb of Christ. This room is reached by stooping through a low passage. There are ten Byzantine columns on the facade.
history
The chapel "Holy Sepulcher" was founded by the majorate founder and Imperial Count Johann Georg III. Donated by Oppersdorff and built in 1634 in the forecourt of the palace. In its original form, it is said to have been modeled on the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, both inside and out . In 1714 the chapel was renovated and its facade redesigned.
When a fire broke out near the chapel in 1822, the chapel also suffered and the dome that initially supported the chapel was destroyed. It was not rebuilt afterwards. This was followed by reconstruction and another renovation.
