The local history museum Günzburg is a municipal museum with a local history and natural history collection in Günzburg in Swabia .

The museum goes back to the founding of the Historisches Verein Günzburg in 1904 and was initially located in the rooms of the grammar school, from 1937 in the south wing of the palace, but which fell victim to the war in April 1945 together with large parts of the collection. The reopening with the remains of the collection took place in 1958 in the former Piarist college built in 1757 on Rathausgasse. There is an exhibition area of ​​670 m² available in 16 rooms on three floors.

The focus of the museum is on a collection of prehistoric and provincial Roman finds as well as a replica of a section from a burial ground on the original scale. In addition, the museum shows a mineralogical-palaeontological collection, two fully furnished Biedermeier rooms, a room on the history of the city in front of Austria , sacred art, furniture, folklore objects and an extensive collection of toys.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are museum educational activities and, in a 64 m² rococo hall, temporary exhibitions of contemporary art, lectures and concerts.
