from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heimatstube Exten is a local museum that deals with the history, tradition and culture of the community of Exten , a district of the town of Rinteln .

history

In 1973 the local council decided to set up the home parlor Exten. For this purpose, the registered association for "Heimatpflege und Kultur Exten" was founded in 1974, which should be responsible for the coordination of future activities.

building

In 1879 the municipality of Exten built a new school "Auf dem Anger " in Kassel by order of the government . In addition, in 1877, a piece of land was bought from Colon Brockmeier No. 8 on "Der Kirchbreite" and it was exchanged with the parish for the property "Auf dem Anger", which was previously used as a parish widow's garden.

exhibition

In two classrooms of the former school as well as a small open space in the outdoor area, the members of the association began to work on a voluntary basis with the construction of a home exhibition about Exten. On February 11, 1978, the local mayor Heinz Maack officially inaugurated the Exten home office.

The Heimatstube Exten includes an extensive local history collection with numerous private exhibits from the everyday life of the villagers. This includes in particular tools, machines and objects from the formerly local craft trades such as cutlers, cigar makers, weavers, basket makers, carpenters, wheelwright, shoemaker, tailor, painter, bricklayer, saddler and baker. The completely preserved counter of the last post office in Exten with all its utensils is also presented in the home parlor.

The Unterer Eisenhammer Exten industrial museum has been part of the museum's permanent exhibition since 2008 . The exhibition in the historic site of a water-powered hammer forge with its own power generation shows pre-industrial tools and machines for forging around the turn of the century. It includes the completely preserved old and functional craft technology.

Archives and Library

Attached to the Heimatstube is an archive that consists of holdings of former club records and some well-founded local chronicles on the history of the town, which was founded in 896. There is also a small library and a picture archive with volumes of local literature about the Weser and Extertal region around Exten, as well as landscape and local photos. This includes valuable historical writings and books on the history of the manor in Exten. These come from the property of the noble families "von Wartensleben " and "von Meien".
