The Heimatverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V. is an association for home and culture care based in Schwerin. It sees itself as the umbrella organization for all clubs, people, initiatives and institutions that are dedicated to homeland care in and for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The Heimatverband is a member of the Home and Environment Federation in Germany . The home association delegates its members to the Federal Council for Nedderdüütsch, the NDR Broadcasting Council and the Board of Trustees of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Volunteer Foundation.

history

The home association was founded on May 27, 2015 in Witzin . The Executive Board currently includes Cornelia Nenz (Chair), Wolfgang Methling (1st Deputy Chair), Christoph Schmitt (2nd Deputy Chair), Gerlind Schlecker (Treasurer), Karl-Ludwig Quade (Secretary). Honorary members are Harald Ringstorff , former Prime Minister. D. and Horst Klinkmann . In February 2016, an office was set up in Schwerin. Since March 2019, the home association has had another office in Ferdinandshof , Vorpommern-Greifswald district .

Fields of work

The association sees itself as the umbrella organization in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania of the associations, associations and individuals working in the field of home and cultural care, while maintaining the independence of its members. It organizes its own events and cooperates with its members at events and provides specialist advice for those involved in home care in the state.

The association's work focuses on local chronicles and regional history, Low German, traditional costumes, dance, music and folk music, cultural landscape maintenance, folklore, monument preservation and building design and maritime culture. The Heimatverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern publishes the series of publications "Stier und Greif. Heimathefte für Mecklenburg-Vorpommern", which appears twice a year and includes articles on homeland maintenance and in Low German. In addition, the home association passes on subsidies from the state to its members for home care projects.

The Heimatverband creates a "Heimatschatzkiste" for children, which contains materials on Low German, regional history, a nature guide, a fossil collection and toys such as marbles for all day-care centers and after-school care centers in the country.

The work of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Heimatverband is funded by the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Home concept

The association uses a concept of home that understands the concrete, social, cultural and natural environment of both native and immigrant people in us from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. He is committed to democratic values ​​and expressly rejects revanchist and reactionary goals of maintaining a homeland (see revisionism ). He supports every turn to traditional culture in order to research or cultivate it; The cohesion of all who feel connected to the region is one of his declared goals.
